The Remote Learning Group’s (RLG’s) Policies and Procedures make it clear that we treat everyone with respect, we will not tolerate sexual misconduct, violence and/or abuse and we will take all reasonable steps to keep our website, Virtual Learning Environment (VLE) and online community safe. It is also a belief that “we†means all of us, RLG’s members of staff, subcontractors, students and visitors.
We recognise that we have a fundamental responsibility to provide an online environment in which individuals of all ages, whether they’re RLG’s members of staff, subcontractors, students and/or visitors may work, learn and develop within a safe online environment. This responsibility includes an ethical and moral duty to safeguard individuals at risk when they are engaging with RLG’s members of staff, subcontractors, students and/or visitors. This core value is at the heart of our interaction with our wider online community and acknowledges that in all our interactions with individuals at risk, their welfare is of paramount importance.
The RLG’s Safeguarding policy and procedures goes beyond the RLG’s basic legal obligations and seeks to reflect general safeguarding guidance and good practice relating to the Higher Education (H.E) sector.
All UK based Colleges and Universities have a legal responsibility under the Counter and Security Act 2015 to have due regard for the need to prevent individuals from being radicalised into supporting terrorism and/or becoming terrorists themselves.
The purpose of the Remote Learning Group’s (RLG) Prevent Strategy’s is to meet this legal responsibility and to prevent RLG students from becoming radicalised and/or being drawn into terrorism and/or other forms of extremism.
