In the United Kingdom (UK) the majority of Higher Education (HE) funding comes from The Student Loans Company, which is a non-departmental public body company in the United Kingdom that provides student loans. It is owned by the UK Government’s Department for Education (85%), the Scottish Government (5%), the Welsh Government (5%) and the Northern Ireland Executive (5%). For further information please visit Student Loans Company (SLC).

Eligible UK HE students can apply for a Tuition Fee Loan of up to £9,250 (2020/21) to cover the full cost of their annual Tuition Fees. A Maintenance Loan of up to £12,010 (2020/21) is also available. This can be used to pay for general living costs, accommodation, equipment and other course related costs.  The Tuition Fee is paid directly to the Remote Learning Group (RLG). The online Student Finance Calculator can provide you with an accurate idea of what level of Student Finance you may be eligible to receive. For more information, please visit: https://www.gov.uk/student-finance

*Your Short Professional Course fee will depend on which course you are studying and the software applications you are wanting to learn e.g., Microsoft Excel, Adobe Photoshop and/or Autodesk 3DS Max etc.

Repaying Loans

You will not start repaying your student loans for Tuition Fees and Maintenance until you have finished your HE course and you are earning over £25,725 (GBP) per year.

For more information, please visit: Repaying Your Student Loan

Other Sources of Funding

You do not have to apply for a Tuition Fee and/or Maintenance Loan from the Student Loans Company to fund your studies. Some students use private funding or employer sponsorship to pay for their course.

Refunds (Information for Applicants)

If you have paid a deposit towards your Tuition Fees and no longer wish to join the course, please email: admissions@remotelearninggroup.com to request a refund.

If you are deferring the start of your course, your pre-payment will be kept by the Remote Learning Group (RLG).

Important Information about Refunds

All refunds will be made to the individual or organisation that originally paid the Tuition Fees. If a third party has made the payment on behalf of the student, the refund is made to the third party. Refunds can only be made to the account which the original payment was made from. If you are entitled, refunds will be processed within 21 days of receiving a completed Refund Request Form sent to: admissions@remotelearninggroup.com

All refunds will be made in £ (GBP) sterling. Any bank charges or currency conversion costs incurred in making a refund shall be borne by the student or the third party receiving the payment.

Payment Terms

It is important you pay your Tuition Fees on time. If all or a proportion of your Tuition Fees or charges remain unpaid after the due date relevant to your chosen method of payment, charges and/or sanctions may be imposed by the Remote Learning Group (RLG), which could affect your studies.

Sanctions Include:

  • Suspension: If you are suspended you will no longer be able to access the RLG’s online Teaching, Learning and Assessments (TLA) platforms, submit work for assessment/grading, download and/or use any of the RLG’s resources or access enrichment activities or webinars. A lengthy suspension may harm your ability to successfully complete your course.
  • Graduation Restrictions: If you have a Tuition Fee debt with the RLG you may not be allowed to attend the Virtual Graduation Ceremony.
  • Certificate and Academic Transcripts Restrictions: The RLG will not issue copies of certificates or academic transcripts, if there is an outstanding Tuition Fee debt with the RLG.
  • The RLG operates a credit control and debt recovery programme in respect of all fees and charges owing to the RLG. This includes:
  • Searches to identify your permanent address.
  • Referrals to Debt Collection Agencies.
  • Legal Proceedings which could result on County Court Judgements.
  • All of these can seriously affect your Credit Score and Credit Rating.

If you are having difficulty securing the funds to pay your Tuition Fees, you should email: admissions@remotelearninggroup.com

Other Costs

Your Tuition Fees cover your tuition, assessment and course materials, but there are still a few additional costs that can come with studying. If your income is less than £25,000 (GBP) or you receive a qualifying United Kingdom (UK) benefit, you could get help with some of these costs after you start studying.

  • You’ll need a computer and internet access for online communications, resources, tutorials and enrichment activities.
  • You may need to pay for travel, accommodation and/or entry fees for enrichment activities, if you choose to physically attend these during your Higher Education (HE) course.
