Our Higher Education (HE) courses use a carefully considered pedagogical approach to deliver a positive and rewarding online learning and personal development experience for our students. Our flexible, methodical and structured approach to teaching and learning allows our students to learn in your own space, and at your own pace, supported by a series of step-by-step videos and tutorials that you can watch, read and return to again and again, with the additional learning support provided by your designated personal tutor and lecturers that are always contactable through our Online Learning Platform.
There is now a greater emphasis on employer engagement and work readiness. The new BTEC Higher National qualifications are designed to reflect this increasing need for high quality professional and technical education pathways at Levels 4 and 5, thereby providing students with a clear line of sight to employment and/or progression to studying a related undergraduate with honours degree course at Level 6.

As an approved BTEC Training Provider the RLG is required to recruit students to our BTEC Higher National remote courses with integrity, which includes making sure that applicants have the necessary up to date information, advice and documentation about the Higher Education (HE) course they are applying to study, whilst making sure the course meets the applicant’s needs (and hopefully exceeds their expectations).
We currently specialise in 17 home study HE levels 4 and 5 (RQF) BTEC accredited Higher National courses, which are fully adapted to and supported by remote teaching and learning policies, procedures and qualification awarding body and professional ‘digital’ industry quality standards and practices.
Pearson BTEC Level 4 Higher National Certificates
The purpose of Pearson BTEC Higher Nationals Certificate (HNC) qualifications is to develop students as professional, self-reflecting individuals able to meet the demands of employers in today’s business sectors and adapt to a constantly changing digital world.
The level 4 qualifications aim to widen access to Higher Education (HE) and enhance the career prospects of the students’ that undertake and successfully complete them.

Pearson BTEC Level 5 Higher National Diploma: Pathways
The RLG currently delivers 12 Level 5 BTEC Higher National Diploma (HND) qualification courses that provide our students’ with ‘specialist pathways’ designed to support progression into employment or self-employment in relevant occupational areas or on to Level 6 degree courses. These pathways are linked to Professional Body standards and vendor accredited certification (where appropriate) and provide professional status.
BTEC Level 5 Higher National Diploma (HND) in Business: Pathways
HND in Business Pathways:
The Level 5 Higher National Diploma (HND) in Business course offers the below seven specialist progression pathways for Level 4 HNC in Business students who wish to concentrate on a particular aspect of business that is:
1. Accounting and Finance
2. Business Management
3. Entrepreneurship and Small Business Management
4. Human Resource Management
5. Marketing
6. Operations Management
7. Business Law

BTEC Level 5 Higher National Diploma (HND) in Art and Design: Pathways
HND in Art & Design Pathways:
The Level 5 Higher National Diploma (HND) in Art and Design course offers the below five specialist progression pathways for Level 4 HNC in 3D Design, Photography, Graphic Design or Digital Design students who wish to concentrate on a particular aspect of Art and Design that is:
1 Interior Design
2 Product Design
3 Photography
4 Graphic Design
5 Digital Design
Students’ who successfully complete a BTEC Level 5 HND course will have developed a sound understanding of the principles within their ‘specialist pathway’ of study and will have developed the knowledge and skills to apply these professional principles effectively and efficiently in their chosen field. They will also have developed a range of transferable skills including project management, team working, organisational competence and problem-solving.
Completing an HND course can lead to you studying the second or final year of a level 6 undergraduate with honours degree course at university and/or enable you to start your own successful business by honing your knowledge and skills to plan, develop and deliver your own projects.
Pearson BTEC Higher National qualifications are designated higher education qualifications in the United Kingdom (UK). They are aligned to the Framework for Higher Education Qualifications (FHEQ) in England, Wales and Northern Ireland, and Quality Assurance Agency (QAA) Subject Benchmark Statements. BTEC Higher National qualifications are part of the UK Regulated Qualifications Framework (RQF).
As a Remote Learning Group student, you will have full access to our student platforms, channels and Virtual Learning Environment (VLE), which contains course materials created by qualified and experienced lecturers and industry experts that includes step by step instructional videos, tutorials, written content, assignment briefs and supporting documents that are required to successfully complete an HNC and HND course online.
Entry Requirements
Age Requirement: 18 years or older
The requirements for applicants progressing from Further Education (FE) is 40 UCAS points, NVQ level 3 or an equivalent level 3 qualification. Some applicants meet the entry requirements by having (relevant work and/or life experiences). We welcome applications from mature students, many of whom may have left education some time ago.
EU Students: As of January 2021, how you applied for a H.E course delivered by a UK based institute changed. For more information, read the UK Government’s guide for the UK Points-Based Immigration System for EU students.
Note: If English is not your first language, we recommend you have at least level 5.5 IELTS or equivalent qualifications or, have completed your last two years of education in English.
Students’ Remote Study Time Requirement
Each Part-Time (P/T) course requires (3 – 4) hours of study, approximately (X5) times Per Week (PW) = (15 – 20) hours of study time PW. The amount of weeks required to complete one 15 credit unit is (4 – 6) weeks, resulting in (64 – 96) weeks (2 Years Maximum) required in total to successfully complete a P/T BTEC Level 4 Higher National Certificate (HNC) course.
Each Full-Time (F/T) course requires (6 – 8) hours of study, approximately (X5) times Per Week (PW) = (30 – 40) hours of study time PW. The amount of weeks required to complete one 15 credit unit is (4 – 6) weeks, resulting in (32 – 48) weeks (1 Year Maximum) required in total to successfully complete a F/T BTEC Level 4 Higher National Certificate (HNC) course.
